Fancy a boat/house exchange holiday?

Exchange your house for a canal holiday, swap your narrowboat for a holiday home.

Your canal boat could take you around the world! Or  your house could take you cruising UK canals!

Having a boat on the canal system is an asset that can be taken advantage of in many ways. All around the world there are people looking for different holiday opportunities.

Lending property to unknowns may sound a bit scary but the principle of house exchange is well established and tends to work well, with both sides extending and responding to the mutual trust of allowing another family the privilege of using their home - and often the car as well. So why not a canal boat?

If you would like to offer a boat/house holiday exchange just fill in our Listings Request Form. There is no charge! But we only list exchanges involving a UK canal boat and we do not include free links to other websites!

Or follow up any of the opportunities listed below. We present this information as a free service and can make no guarantees about the arrangements offered, you must make your own further enquiries and agreements.

We live in Western Australia and love narrowboating. We have so far done the Four Counties Ring and the Llangollen. Looking to swap our townhouse in Perth plus holiday house on river near Mandurah (100km south of Perth) for use of narrowboat. 1-4mths!! Would not necessarily need to be at the same time. csmacc@iinet.net.au (30/1/07)
I own a 62ft (2005) Narrow boat, currently privately moored on the Grand Union Canal in Milton Keynes. I would love to swap my home for a week or two abroad at various times throughout the coming months/years! Open to offers from anywhere in the world! allyburgon@hotmail.com (30/1/07)
I own a 43ft narrowboat on the beautiful Brecon and Monmouth canal which runs through the Brecon Beacons in Wales. It can accomodate two comfortably. I am looking to exchange my boat for another narrowboat anywhere on the main system in the UK or France. One week or 10 days would be ideal anytime in the summer or early autumn. My email address is epona66@hotmail.co.uk. Hope to hear from you. Amanda Lloyd. (16/1/07)
I have a 27ft yacht with a walkaboard mooring, including power, water, laundry facilities and secure parking. The mooring is at Manly in Queensland, Australia, and is right on the doorstep of beautiful Moreton Bay. The boat sleeps four, and has kitchen and head inbuilt. I would like to exchange for a canal boat holiday, and would be quite open to making my home and car available to the right person as well. My email address is piper2a@optusnet.com.au (10/1/07)
We are offering a week in a 16th century French Manor, Normandy, in exchange for a week on a canal boat preferably on the Kennet and Avon. Contact Sarah at davidellis222@tiscali.co.uk (10/1/07)
Lovely narrowboat - 60ft, based between Bath and Bristol on the River Avon. Ideal for 2 but can sleep 4. All mod cons and extra's. Sky TV etc. Would like to exchange with boat on the Norfolk Broads. July/August or October. russrichards2005@yahoo.co.uk (10/1/07)
Two vacation homes and a new car in exchange for the use of your canal boat? See beautiful Northern California from our main home: Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, the Napa & Sanoma Valleys, and many Gold Rush towns are within easy reach. Or see the rugged Oregon coast, unspoiled forests and Crater Lake from our secluded retreat in the hills of Central Oregon, less than four miles from the Umpqua River, one of the world's greatest fishing locations! Or maybe use both homes to see a large swath of the American West Coast. We're interested in a two week or longer exchange in the window of early-June to mid-August 2008. (We're experienced exchangers, about 30 to date, and include a professional skipper!) . Email us with questions at chrisabarkershop@sbcglobal.net . (28/12/05)
