Great atmosphere, food and real ale. Very good value for money. A fantastic find on our canal boat holiday. Shame we don’t live nearer! Thank you. Karen & Co Hampshire x

Don’t be fooled by the uninspiring exterior of this 1980’s purpose built pub. There’s real ale and excellent food to be had inside.
Inside the pub is warm, welcoming and decorated with lots of canal memorabilia, possibly a bit clichéd but lovely nonetheless. Best of all – no music.
We were there on a Friday evening and it wasn’t very busy. We were served by two very helpful, friendly and polite young people. We were told there there would be a bit of a wait for our meals but there really wasn’t and it’s what you expect for freshly cooked food.
The food was excellent. My wife went for the steak and Guinness pie, which was a generous, proper slice of pie in short crust pastry with excellent gravy. I had very good fish and chips with rhubarb crumble and custard for pudding. That was perfect, the rhubarb was sweet and tart, and slightly gooey with lovely custard.

This is a lovely pub. Good beer. Nice staff. Plenty of parking for cars, bikes, boats and boots. The menu is exactly what you want to see in an English pub. The food that comes out of the kitchen is wholesome well cooked and served with a smile. Lovely
