Visiting from the states. I was looking for the pub environment on the canal. I wanted to taste the traditional dishes and beers. The food was delicious, the beer super creamy. Very busy our second visit. The staff greets you with warm smiles and a happy “Hiya”. Don’t get discouraged when waiting to be seated inside. Book ahead. It was worth 2 stops in a week.

Lovely location just along the canal and not too far from Chirk..

Easily accessible by road or canal..

Very beautiful pub / restaurant.. with a fantastic beer garden and play area for the kids..

Inside the restaurant is nicely decorated and has a great friendly atmosphere..

The food menu is varied and caters to all tastes.

We opted for the Wednesday special of steak pie and a pint for £14.25..

Thursday is steak and a pint….

We were not disappointed it was piping hot and delicious… portions were such we could not eat it all…

So excellent value for money…

Service was great and the staff are very friendly and welcoming..

But a little hap hazard..our waitress was clearly inexperienced. please don’t worry about it.. we would be happy to visit again and be served by the young lady who waited on our table…

We went to Poachers Pocket on a Saturday evening whilst staying in our caravan close by for the weekend. I was recommended by the caravan park to book a table earlier in the day. We arrived at the pub and we were greeted by a member of staff who was friendly and helpfull. We were shown to our table and our drinks order was taken. Once decided on our options our food order was taken and our food was served quickly. We were aware that the Poachers serves pub food before we arrived so knew what to expect. The food was good and we both cleared our plates. We then decided to have another drink and sit in the beer garden looking at the canal. The staff at the Poachers were excellent and we enjoyed our visit. When we are near-by again we will definitely be visiting again.

Good atmosphere, friendly staff, beautiful foods. Our dinning experience was very good. Not rushed or having staff keep coming to the table asking if all was OK. The evening was ideal as it broke the ice on a meeting with my stepson as we had not met for nearly 2 years since the death of my wife , his mum. Thankyou for making it such a good meeting.
